Temple Pavilion, Kolonnawa
The project is an addition to an existing temple, which serves as a shelter to the statue of Lord Buddha and its devotees. The addition comprises of a main pavilion of the Buddha statue and two open pavilions which serve as a space for meditation and to accommodate religious activities.
Sheltering the Buddha statue, the main pavilion is situated in the middle while the two open pavilions stands out from either sides of it. The orientation and the skilful segregation of the building successfully capture the view of the serene environment of the context.
The minimalistic architecture effortlessly emanates the hidden spirituality out of the hectic periphery in order to create the perfect ambience of religion and its divinity. The elongated spaces created through the colonnade enhance the sanctity of the atmosphere leading one to eternal bliss and inner peace.
