Tower house, Kotikawatta
This crafted house is located in vicinity to the Sri Lankan Parliament building which was designed in the 70’s by the renowned regional modernist Geoffrey Bawa. The language of the Parliament building draws references from the Sri Lankan vernacular architecture with its vast pitched roofs. The architecture of the Parliament has led to creation of stringent building regulations that regulate the character of all the buildings in the area.
Permeable screens at the first floor level that can be opened out towards views of a nearby park, distant views of the memorial and parliament, creating great openness, as well as can be closed when necessary creating privacy.
